PhD promotion Giuliana Ascone – Euroclast

Future Diagnostics is proudly announcing the PhD promotion of Giuliana Ascone. Giuliana was Early Stage Researcher (ESR) in the Marie Curie Euroclast project supported by Future Diagnostics and working at the Department of Experimental Rheumatology of the Radboud University.

The findings in this thesis give new insights how various triggers and molecules (such as SA100A8/A9 and, oxLDL) activate the innate immune system and thus are contributing to joint destruction during rheumatoid arthritis. Moreover, the development of immunotherapies targeting the activating FcgRs and a better understanding of the clinical effect of high levels of LDL-C may lead to more effective methods to treat rheumatoid arthritis patients not responding to current established therapies.
